Psychonaut

Brain-computer integration systems with low neural congruence and an egocentric distribution of agency can be described as having a psychonaut-like user experience.

Psychonaut refers to a practitioner of psychonautics”: the method of inducing altered states of consciousness to explore the self and consciousness.

Users of these systems are pyschonauts in that their brain activity is interpreted by the BCI and fed back to the user symbolically, typically in the form of sensory metaphors which represent cognitive processes or affective states, ultimately allowing them to learn about and regulate their brain.

Inter-Dream is one example of a psychonaut system
